Our Story

Hello, I'm Bec.

I'm a primary school teacher with over 15 years of experience in the classroom and in school leadership and, more recently, mum to two little ones who keep me on my toes.

Starting my own business had always been a quiet dream of mine. When I welcomed my son in 2023, maternity leave gave me the time to finally explore it. My passion has always been helping children learn to read and write, especially through phonics, and with my husband Dan cheering me on, I launched Hare & Tortoise Learning.

Our range covers early phonics, writing and maths - reusable learning books, flashcards and writing mats that help little ones build confidence with letters, numbers and writing their own name. Our resources can even be personalised with your child's name and a cute avatar — a lovely way to make them feel special and stay engaged.

A year and a half on, our family has grown with the arrival of my daughter, and my son is now my chief tester! There's nothing quite like seeing my own resources in action in my own home.

Here's what I really believe: learning isn't a race. It's an adventure, and every child gets to enjoy it at their own pace. That's why our products are organised by stage, not age. They meet your child exactly where they are.
