My First Phonics Book – This book covers single letter sounds learnt in reception in UK primary schools. Children will learn learn to explore the sound as well as read and write within words.
🔢 Numeracy Books Choose either:
My First Maths Book – This book is an introduction to numbers (1-10), counting and shapes.
My Next Maths Book – This book covers key elements of maths covered in Reception including number sense (numbers 1-10), simple addition and subtraction, number bonds to 5 and 10 as well as the properties of simple 2D shapes.
✍️ Name Writing Mat Choose either:
First Name Mat – For your child to practise writing their first name.
Full Name Mat – For children ready to tackle their first and surname.

My First Alphabet Book and My First Maths Book are part of our Stage 1 range, designed to support the skills and learning objectives typically introduced for children aged 3–4 years. My Next Maths Book and My First Phonics Book are part of our Stage 2 range, designed with Reception objectives in mind.
At Hare & Tortoise Learning, we follow a “stage not age” approach because every child learns differently and develops at their own pace. Some children may be ready earlier, while others benefit from taking a little more time.
